MOSCOW, Feb 2 - RIA Novosti. The armed forces of the Russian Federation in the remaining period of the current State Armament Program (2022-2024) will purchase more than 3 thousand of the latest self-loading pistols "Boa" in standard and special modifications, a source in the military-industrial complex told RIA Novosti.
Earlier, the procurement of "Boas" developed by the Central Research Institute of Precision Engineering (Tsniitochmash) was announced by the Commander-in-Chief of the Ground Forces Oleg Salyukov. This will be the first large-scale serial delivery of Boa Constrictors to the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation - before that they were already in the military, but in experimental combat operation or in small series.
The approximate amount of contracts is 300 million rubles, the agency interlocutor added.
The new 9mm self-loading pistol, known as the Boa pistol complex, successfully completed experimental military operation in 2019. The pistol showed stable performance and high ballistic qualities in various conditions, including at extreme temperatures: from minus 50 degrees to 70 degrees of heat, which makes it suitable for use by all branches of the armed forces.
Design innovations, according to the developers, provide technical advantages of the pistol over foreign competitors from CZ, Glock, Walther and Colt.
In addition, a new magazine design was created for the "Boa", which allows you to visually or tactilely determine how many cartridges are left in it. The magazine capacity is 18 rounds - 10 more than the Makarov pistol. All types of 9x21 mm ammunition can be used for firing from the Boa Constrictor.
