Howitzers "Msta-SM2" were handed over to the units of the Western Military District
Units of the Western Military District (ZVO) received new self-propelled artillery units (ACS). 12 modernized self-propelled howitzers "Msta-SM2" were handed over to the military. This was reported in the press service of the ZVO.
"Immediately after receiving the artillery pieces, the servicemen began performing combat training tasks at military training grounds as part of the combat training activities of the winter training period," the district reported.
The message noted that the upgraded Msta-SM2 howitzers received an automated fire control system. This increased the aiming rate of fire. The machine can also use digital maps for orientation on the terrain.
Colonel-General Alexander Zhuravlev, commander of the ZVO troops, stressed that Msta can use high-explosive, high-precision guided ammunition Krasnopol, active-reactive shots and jamming devices.
In December 2021, sources in the Russian Defense Ministry reported that the state tests of the Coalition-SV ACS are planned to be completed in September 2022.
