TSAMTO, January 31. The nuclear submarine "Prince Oleg" of the Borey-A project, built on Sevmash (part of the USC), set off on January 28 to a temporary base for the Northern Fleet.
The company's specialists took part in preparing the ship for the transition.
As previously reported, the raising of the St. Andrew's flag on the cruiser took place on Sevmash on December 21, 2021. On this day, the company also transferred the multi-purpose Novosibirsk submarine of the Yasen-M project to the fleet. The event on raising flags on two ships was held in the format of a videoconference with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The Commander-in-Chief stressed that both submarines will be based in the Pacific Fleet.
As explained by the commander of the Prince Oleg APC Igor Golubev, the crew is ready to serve on the first serial cruiser of the Borey-A project. During the construction on Sevmash and the tests, the submariners gained good experience in the operation of the cruiser. As part of the state tests, successful firing of the Bulava ballistic missile from the waters of the White Sea was carried out. "There is a lot of work ahead to work out combat training tasks. The crew includes military personnel who have already served on the ships of the 4th generation of the Borey project. "Prince Oleg is the most modern cruiser, it has enormous parameters for control, the use of weapons, and other indicators," I. Golubev said.
Underwater nuclear missile cruisers of the Borey-A project are being built on Sevmash in a large series (the designer of the MT Rubin Central Design Bureau). The lead cruiser "Prince Vladimir" joined the fleet in 2020. As Sevmash CEO Mikhail Budnichenko emphasized, more than a hundred counterparty organizations are involved in the construction of cruisers of this project throughout the country. In the Borey-A project, the designers embodied the latest scientific and technical developments. Tactical and technical characteristics have been significantly improved, work has been carried out to optimize physical fields, weapon control systems, and maneuverability properties have been improved.
