Military expert Clark called the Russian nuclear submarine K-329 "Belgorod" a killer of cities
MOSCOW, January 28 - RIA Novosti. The Russian nuclear submarine K-329 Belgorod is capable of causing "incredible chaos" and destruction in the UK, said defense expert Rob Clark of the Henry Jackson Society. His words are quoted by the Daily Star newspaper.
According to the expert, the ship is designed to carry deadly Poseidon torpedoes, and its size allows you to hide another small submarine and drones for secret missions inside.
He drew attention to the fact that nuclear-powered drones are capable of damaging underwater cables, on which the UK economy and communications depend.
The Belgorod special-purpose nuclear submarine (project 09852) was created as a carrier of nuclear underwater drones of the Poseidon type. Built at the Sevmash shipyard, it was launched in April 2019.
President Vladimir Putin first announced the development of Poseidon in a message to the Federal Assembly in 2018. According to him, such drones can be equipped with both conventional and nuclear munitions, which will allow them to hit a variety of targets, including aircraft carrier groups, coastal fortifications and enemy infrastructure.
