The Russian special-purpose submarine Belgorod, whose commissioning is scheduled for July, is capable of leading to indescribable chaos and destruction in the UK.
- This ship is twice the size of British submarines. It is so huge that it can produce a smaller submarine and underwater drones for secret missions. And thanks to a nuclear reactor, a Russian submarine can secretly be anywhere in the world. This is a very real threat," the Daily Star quotes the opinion of military expert Rob Clark.
For the UK, in his opinion, Belgorod carries two serious dangers. Firstly, the drones produced by the nuclear-powered vessel can damage the underwater cables on which the economy and communications of the island kingdom depend. "Even minor damage can lead to indescribable chaos and destruction," the expert believes.
In addition, the submarine will be the first carrier of Poseidon strategic drones. According to British experts, giant torpedoes with a nuclear reactor and a thermonuclear warhead can cause a tsunami that devastates coastal areas. "A real killer of cities," Clarke sums up.
