The BMP-2 with the Berezhok combat module will replenish the parks of formations and military units of the Central Military District stationed in the Volga region by the end of this year. This was reported by the press service of the territorial association with reference to the commander of the Central Military District, Colonel-General Alexander Lapin.
The Berezhka installation significantly increases the combat capabilities of the second-generation BMP proven by long-term operation, known for its reliability and good maneuverability.
After such an update, they will receive enhanced capabilities both for the destruction of various enemy armored vehicles and manpower.
For example, the on-board anti-tank complex "Kornet" with a laser guidance system will not leave a chance even for the most well-armored tanks, which have, among other things, dynamic protection.
The firepower of small-caliber rapid-firing cannons and twin machine guns is also enhanced by 30-mm automatic grenade launchers.
For precise guidance and actions at any time of the day, combined sights with an independent stabilization system in two planes, thermal imagers and laser rangefinders are used.
Also at the end of last year it became known that the ground forces of the Russian army plan to adopt the newest infantry fighting vehicle B-19 with an uninhabited rocket and cannon compartment "Epoch".
