In 2021, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation received more than five thousand new and modernized samples of weapons, military and special equipment.
This was announced by Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu.
"Among them are 900 armored combat vehicles, three modern submarines, including the nuclear submarine Prince Oleg, armed with Bulava ballistic missiles, four surface ships, 10 combat boats, 17 vessels and support boats," the head of the military department said on Thursday, opening a single day of acceptance of military products.
According to him, 151 units of new and modernized aviation equipment have been received from the industry, including 77 aircraft, 29 helicopters, 45 complexes with unmanned aerial vehicles.
"Four upgraded Tu-95MS missile carriers, three Bastion coastal missile systems, Pantsir-S anti-aircraft missile and gun systems, S-400 Triumph and S-350 Vityaz anti-aircraft missile systems," the minister said.
The equipment of the Russian army and navy with modern weapons increased over the year to 71.2%, strategic nuclear forces - to 89.1%, Shoigu added.
The Tu-95 was created at the peak of the Cold War as a response to the creation of the Convair B-36 bomber in the United States. The aircraft was created with turboprop engines, because at that time only they allowed to reach a flight range of 12 thousand kilometers.
It was this range that was necessary in order to "deliver" the charges to the United States in the event of war. Two coaxial screws with opposite rotation were needed, because if one screw was used, its diameter would be seven meters. In total, more than 500 aircraft of various modifications were produced.
TV Zvezda also says that in 1951, the Air Force Commission approved the developed project, and on November 12, 1952, the Tu-95 prototype made its first flight. Serial production of the car was started in 1955. On the basis of the Tu-95, flying laboratories for various purposes, the Tu-114 intercontinental passenger liner and its design transport variant have been created.
