The US Army was supplied with the first batch of Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicle (AMPV) armored vehicles. They were developed as a replacement for the outdated M113 armored personnel carrier.
A batch of AMPV armored vehicles was delivered to the 2nd Armored Brigade of the 3rd Infantry Division of the U.S. Army at Fort Stewart for initial operational testing. This month, soldiers will begin to learn how to service and apply new samples.
AMPV is a family of new generation tracked armored vehicles developed by BAE Systems to replace the M113 tracked vehicle fleet.
In 2014, BAE Systems received a contract worth up to $ 1.2 billion from the US Army for the development and small-scale production of AMPV. The first production car was built in 2020.

Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicle uses an "evolutionary" approach: solutions tested on combat vehicles of the past, such as Bradley, have found their embodiment on it. At the same time, AMPV meets the most modern requirements of protection and maneuverability.
The new platform will be delivered to the US Army in five versions: an armored personnel carrier, a command and staff vehicle, a medical ambulance, a medical evacuation vehicle and a 120-millimeter self-propelled mortar.
