The French CAESAR howitzer made a record shot and hit the target at a distance of 46 km
The French self-propelled artillery installation (ACS) CAESAR made a record shot. A howitzer on a wheeled chassis hit two targets at a distance of more than 46 kilometers, which is a record for this self-propelled gun. The car used an Excalibur projectile. This is reported by Army Recognition with reference to Raytheon Missiles & Defense.
The tests were conducted by Raytheon Missiles & Defense and Nexter together with the US Army. Test firing demonstrated the compatibility of CAESAR with Excalibur active-rocket projectiles.
The publication noted that earlier the US military tested the CAESAR self-propelled gun, which can replace the towed M777A2 howitzer. The US Army plans to deploy artillery installations on a wheeled chassis in Europe.
In December, sources in the Russian Defense Ministry reported that the state tests of the Coalition-SV ACS are planned to be completed in 2022. The car can be accepted for equipment until December 2022.
In November, the head of the missile forces and artillery of the Russian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Mikhail Matveevsky, announced that the Coalition-SV would receive a new projectile. High-precision ammunition operates on the principle of "shot and forgot".
