The Ukrainian company "Motor Sich" is upgrading the Soviet Mi-8TP helicopter
A rare modification of the Soviet Mi-8 helicopter will be repaired in Ukraine. The Motor Sich company has received an order for the repair and modernization of the Mi-8TP helicopter. The Soviet apparatus was designed to transport international groups that monitored the implementation of arms reduction measures. This is reported by Defense Express.
The helicopter will be handed over to the 15th Transport Aviation Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. As part of the work on the Mi-8TP, the helicopter will be unified with the Mi-8MSB design — this will turn the passenger car into a full-fledged transport helicopter.
The Mi-8TP was built by order of the USSR Ministry of Defense. The passenger modification is designed to transport groups of inspectors to monitor compliance with the terms of the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe. The Mi-8TP received a simplified interior and a powerful radio station with a cable antenna.
Earlier, the Defense Blog reported that Ukraine could receive Afghan helicopters as part of US military assistance.
In December 2021, Flight Global magazine released the World Air Forces 2022 handbook. In the popularity rating of military helicopters, the Russian Mi-8/Mi-17 became the second.
