Today, the innovative electric steelmaking complex Interpipe Steel is 10 years old. It was on January 17, 2012 that the first melting of metal was made at the plant.
Until now, Interpipe Steel remains the only metallurgical plant in Ukraine built from scratch during the years of Independence. Moreover, it is the largest green investment in the domestic industry worth $1 billion. (together with related productions).
The construction of the turnkey plant was carried out by the Italian company Danieli, one of the world's leading manufacturers of equipment for the metallurgical industry.
The launch of Interpipe Steel made it possible to close the environmentally dirty open-hearth steel production, as a result of which CO2 emissions into the atmosphere decreased by almost 10 times, gas consumption by 8 times. Thus, Interpipe Steel already meets the ambitions of the European Green Deal as much as possible: its emissions do not exceed 250 kg of CO2 per ton of steel.
Interpipe Steel is equipped with a modern dust and gas cleaning system according to European standards. The company has a closed water supply system, which excludes the discharge of industrial wastewater into the Dnieper and other reservoirs.
In addition, Interpipe Steel is the only plant in Ukraine where innovative technologies and production culture are combined with modern art. The company has created 5 art installations by the famous artist Olafur Eliasson: "Dnepropetrovsk Sunrise", "Material is movement", "Your bridge of reflections", "Your fiery pattern", "Your tunnel of time".
