TSAMTO, January 10. More than 10 of the newest self-propelled pontoons have entered service with the railway connection of the Southern Federal District, stationed in the Krasnodar Territory.
The self-propelled pontoon (pusher) PST-1 is designed for towing ferries or individual sections of floating railway bridges that are in service with railway troops.
The pontoon provides transportation of elements of hydraulic structures on water bodies with a wave height of up to 1.2 m.
Thanks to the powerful diesel engine, the mobility of the new equipment is significantly increased compared to the pontoons of the previous generation.
Railway troops are already mastering new equipment during tactical and special exercises, performing tasks on technical cover of assigned facilities, restoration, demining and blocking of railway infrastructure sections, as well as directing crossings over water barriers, the press service of the Southern Military District said on January 3.
