Avia.pro: the submarine "Novorossiysk" of the Russian Navy in the Mediterranean caused panic in the US Navy
The Novorossiysk diesel-electric submarine belonging to the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Navy appeared in the waters of the Mediterranean Sea and caused panic among the command of the Naval Forces of the United States and NATO. This is reported by Avia.pro .
According to the publication, the Russian submarine approached the deployment area of US warships and, having gone deep, frightened the command of the American fleet. "Attempts over the past two days to find a Russian submarine have not been successful. For this purpose, ships equipped with radars and anti-submarine aircraft were involved, but this also proved unsuccessful," writes Avia.pro .
Presumably, now the Novorossiysk, armed with Kalibr cruise missiles, is heading for the coast of Syria. According to some reports, the rescue tugboat "Rescuer Vasily Bekh" is in the Mediterranean Sea with him.
In September 2021, it was reported that Russia for the first time deployed five submarines in the Mediterranean Sea, known as "black holes" and acting as carriers of "Calibers". It was about the non-nuclear submarines of the 636 Varshavyanka project.
Earlier, in July, the British Navy suspected a Russian submarine of spying on the Queen Elizabeth warship during its passage to the Mediterranean Sea. It was clarified that the submarine allegedly following the British vessel belongs to the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Navy.
