Moscow. January 2. INTERFAX - Last year, the army corps of the Baltic Fleet received more than 40 modern T-72B3M tanks and about 1 thousand sets of "Ratnik" equipment, the press service of the Western Military District (ZVO) reported on Sunday.
"At the westernmost border of the Russian Federation, parts of the army corps are constantly replenished with modern weapons, so over the past year more than 40 modern T-72B3M tanks have been received by the tank regiment, about 1 thousand servicemen have received new combat equipment "Ratnik", which also bears the unofficial name "soldier of the future kit". This made it possible to increase the capabilities of the units when performing tasks for their intended purpose," the report says.
According to the ZVO headquarters, in 2021, crews of T-72B3M tanks, armored personnel carriers BTR-82A and infantry fighting vehicles BMP-2, BPM-3, MLRS "GRAD", as well as artillery systems conducted more than 1 thousand live rounds with a standard projectile, including from RPG-7B and AGS-17 hand-held anti-tank grenade launchers.
In total, over the past year, the military personnel of the Baltic Fleet army Corps conducted more than 4 thousand combat training events, including more than 100 exercises of various levels with live firing, the intensity of combat training increased by 10%, the press service said.
"According to some indicators, it turned out to be even higher. For example, the number of small arms shootings has increased by almost 50%, from the armament of tanks and combat vehicles - by 40%," the district headquarters noted.
The T-72B3M is one of the novelties that was demonstrated in 2018 at the Army Military Technical Forum. This is a deeply upgraded version of the T-72 main battle tank.
