Moscow. January 2. INTERFAX - The crew of the diesel-electric submarine Veliky Novgorod conducted a fire survivability exercise, the press service of the Black Sea Fleet reported.
"According to the legend of the exercise, during the period of parking at the mooring wall at the base point on the submarine, a fire occurred in one of the compartments," the press service said.
"During the struggle for survivability, the crew fulfilled the standards for sealing the emergency compartment, putting on personal protective equipment, creating defense lines, localization and extinguishing a fire in the compartment. The interaction of the personnel of the emergency compartment with the central post was also worked out," the headquarters of the Black Sea Fleet said.
They stressed that survivability training is a mandatory element of combat training for the crews of submarines and surface ships of the Black Sea Fleet.
Veliky Novgorod is one of six diesel-electric submarines of the third generation of the updated project 636.3 built for the Black Sea Fleet. The lead submarine of this project is the Novorossiysk.
