Baku. December, 31st. INTERFAX-AZERBAIJAN - Azerbaijan will continue to increase its military power and purchase new weapons in 2022, President Ilham Aliyev said.
"We will continue to increase our military power. In 2021, practical steps were also taken in this direction, new weapons and equipment were purchased and will be purchased. At the same time, great importance is attached to the training of our military formations. In the Second Karabakh War, the whole world saw the military power of Azerbaijan," Aliyev said in a televised address on the occasion of the Day of Solidarity of Azerbaijanis of the World and the New Year.
According to him, a new military formation was created in Azerbaijan in 2021 - the Commando Force. "These forces are ready to carry out any military task, their number is steadily growing and will continue to grow. Thus, the creation of a new professional military formation of rapid deployment, which has very great capabilities, suggests that we should always be ready to protect our lands and borders. Some incidents that occurred on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border in 2021 showed that Azerbaijan fully retains its advantage," he said.
