Defense Express: AN-178-100R aircraft received a Russian-made engine
The Ukrainian state Enterprise (GP) Antonov announced the rollout of the AN-178-100R aircraft. The manufacturer stressed that the aircraft received equipment from Ukrainian and Western suppliers, but they could not completely replace the Russian units at the enterprise. The aircraft received a Russian-made engine, according to the Defense Express material.
The rollout of the AN-178-100R will take place on December 28. The aircraft with the number 001 will undergo flight tests. The company's message stressed that within the framework of the import substitution program, the aircraft received equipment from Ukrainian and Western manufacturers.
The publication notes that an auxiliary gas turbine engine TA18-100 was installed on the aircraft, which was developed by specialists of the Russian JSC Aerosila Scientific and Production Enterprise. In 2017, the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine put the company on the sanctions list.
Defense Express writes that the TA18-100 engine was removed from the AN-132D multipurpose aircraft. Also, the TA18-100 power units will be installed on three aircraft ordered by the Defense Ministry of Ukraine.
In September, the Deputy Director General of Antonov State Enterprise announced that the import substitution of AN-178 aircraft equipment will be completed by the end of 2021. The prototype aircraft made 200 flights using Russian components.
