Two newest vessels in August of this year, which became part of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation, passed the Strait of Gibraltar and entered the Mediterranean Sea. This was announced by the head of the information support department of the Black Sea Fleet, Captain 2nd rank Alexey Rulev.
A detachment of ships consisting of the mine defense vessel "Georgy Kurbatov" and the logistics ship "Vsevolod Bobrov" performs a planned inter-fleet crossing from the Baltic to the Black Sea. The Georgy Kurbatov mine defense warship, which became the third vessel of the 12700 project in Sevastopol, joined the Black Sea Fleet in August 2021. At the same time, Vsevolod Bobrov joined the Black Sea Fleet. In August, the St. Andrew's flag was raised on it.
- For the crews, this is the first inter-fleet crossing, during which they will have to overcome more than 5 thousand nautical miles, and conduct a number of ship exercises in accordance with their purpose, - Alexey Rulev said.
Upon arrival in Sevastopol, both ships will carry out post-departure maintenance and begin scheduled service.
From 2014 to 2019, the Black Sea Fleet was replenished with 30 warships and boats and 25 auxiliary vessels.
