The Gibka-S anti-aircraft missile systems will be delivered to the troops in 2022
The new Gibka-S anti-aircraft missile systems (SAMs) will be delivered to the troops in 2022. Platoon sets of systems will receive parts of air defense (air defense). This was announced by the head of the military air defense of the Russian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Alexander Leonov [...], in an interview with the newspaper Krasnaya Zvezda.
"For the first time next year, platoon sets of Gibka-S combat vehicles will be delivered to the air defense units," Leonov said.
He noted that the combat vehicles of the Gibka-S complex are equipped with intelligence facilities and an automated control system, which is part of a single tactical management system. This allows the military to conduct round-the-clock duty and fire control in real time.
Earlier, the Rostec State Corporation announced the preparation of an export modification of the Flexible-S air defense system for mass production. The new complex became the first Russian short- and ultra-short-range air defense system. The Gibka-S can hit planes, helicopters, drones and cruise missiles.
In October, sources of the Izvestia newspaper reported that the Russian military will receive portable air defense missile systems (MANPADS) "Willow". The new MANPADS will be transferred to the units of the Southern Military District.
