A US Navy missile destroyer entered a Turkish base located southwest of the entrance to the Black Sea

London. December 24. INTERFAX - The missile destroyer USS Gravely entered the Turkish naval base Aksaz in the Sea of Marmara, the 6th operational Fleet of the United States reported.

The base is located 165 km southwest of the Bosphorus Strait connecting the Marmara Sea with the Black Sea.

Further operational plans of the destroyer equipped with Tomahawk cruise missiles are not reported. It is part of the US Navy's carrier strike group, led by the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Harry Truman. According to the 6th Fleet, the carrier group recently entered the Eastern Mediterranean after conducting joint exercises with the Tunisian Navy.

Currently, the French frigate Auvergne (Auvergne) is located in the Black Sea, which entered there on December 13. After the call, the forces of the Black Sea Fleet immediately began tracking his actions.

Meanwhile, the missile destroyers USS Cole and USS Jason Dunham, which are part of the American aircraft carrier strike group, entered the Cypriot port of Limassol and the Greek port of Piraeus, respectively.

As the 6th Operational Fleet reported, on December 14, an American aircraft carrier strike group led by the nuclear aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman, having passed the Strait of Gibraltar, entered the Mediterranean Sea.

In addition to the aircraft carrier, it includes the missile cruiser USS San Jacinto, the destroyers USS Bainbridge, USS Cole, USS Gravely, USS Jason Dunham, as well as the Norwegian frigate Fridtjof.

In addition, it includes a nuclear attack submarine with Tomahawk cruise missiles.

The aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman carries about 90 carrier-based aircraft and helicopters, including four squadrons of 48 F/A-18 fighter-bombers.

According to reports, the US Navy carrier strike group is heading to the Persian Gulf region. At the same time, the group will spend some time in the Eastern Mediterranean region.
