Russian Ambassador to Indonesia Vorobyova: we have no official information about the rejection of the Su-35
The Russian side has not received official messages from Indonesia about the refusal to purchase multi-purpose Su-35 fighters. This is reported by TASS with reference to the Russian Ambassador in Jakarta Lyudmila Vorobyova.
"We do not have official information and official appeals from the Indonesian side," the ambassador responded.
Earlier, the chief of the General Staff of the country's Air Force, Air Chief Marshal Fajar Prasetyo, said that Indonesia was forced to abandon the purchase of the Su-35. He noted that the government is considering the purchase of American Boeing F-15EX fighters and French Dassault Rafale.
In 2018, Indonesia and Russia signed an agreement on the supply of 11 Su-35 fighters. The planes were planned to be transferred in 2019, but later sources reported that the implementation of the deal was delayed by US sanctions.
In September, the publication 19FortyFive wrote about the danger of the Su-35 for the F-35 Lightning II. The publication noted that the advantage of the Russian aircraft was its versatility. The Su-35 can hit air, ground and sea targets, and the range of use of missile weapons exceeds 300 kilometers.
