A Karrar tank based on the Soviet T-72M was spotted during exercises in Iran
The Iranian armed forces used the new Karrar tank in the exercises. During the maneuvers of the formations of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) Payambar-e Azam-17, an upgraded tank was noticed, which is based on the design of the Soviet T-72M. This is reported by the Tasnim agency.
The report noted that the version of the tank used by the IRGC units received a new camouflage system. This reduces the visibility of the machine for high-precision weapons with infrared and radar homing heads.
Karrar was equipped with a new multi-channel sight. The tank's fire control system also includes a ballistic computer and a laser rangefinder.
The machine's security is ensured by multi-layer booking and dynamic protection. Karrar also received a set of laser radiation warning sensors. The main gun of the tank is complemented by a remotely controlled installation with a 12.7 mm machine gun.
The exercises were held in the southern regions of Iran. During the maneuvers, the IRGC units practiced repelling the attack.
Earlier, Chinese VT-2 tanks were first noticed in Africa. The export version of the Type 96A combat vehicle was shown at a parade in Tanzania. The tank received a copy of the Soviet 125 mm caliber cannon with automatic loading.
