Long-range aviation originates from the squadron of airships "Ilya Muromets". This is the world's first compound of heavy bombers, the creation of which was approved on December 23, 1914. Today, long-range aviation is part of the strategic nuclear forces of the Russian Aerospace Forces. The strategic missile carriers Tu-160 and Tu-95MS, long-range bombers Tu-22M3, tanker aircraft Il-78, training and transport aircraft of various modifications are in service.
According to the Department of Information and Mass Communications of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, this year long-range aviation crews participated in the joint strategic exercise "West-2021", the Russian-Uzbek exercise, exercises with the Northern and Pacific fleets. They conducted the third joint air patrol in the Asia-Pacific region with the crews of the Air Force of the People's Liberation Army of China.
This patrol was not easy, we had to fly over the water area for a long time, crossing the state border and flying over the PRC. In addition, the pilots have repeatedly performed tasks on patrolling the airspace of Belarus.
