The Novosibirsk combat missile carrier, developed at the Northern Machine-Building Enterprise (Sevmash, Severodvinsk), belongs to the class of new multipurpose submarines of the Yasen project.
It uses many technical solutions that were not previously used in the domestic underwater shipbuilding.
The former Novosibirsk submarine was removed from the balance sheet in 2016. It was originally planned that it would become part of the large memorial complex "Sea Glory". The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation gave Novosibirsk a boat for free, but the mayor's office did not find money for its transportation. The legendary submarine was cut into scrap metal, notes Ndn.info .
As the mayor of Novosibirsk Anatoly Lokot tells, the history of submarines bearing the name of Novosibirsk, equidistant from all seas, began in 1943, when the sailors of the Northern Navy were given the boat M-107 "Novosibirsk Komsomolets". It was built with funds raised by Komsomol members and youth of the Novosibirsk region. In 1980, the tradition was continued by the boat B-396 "Novosibirsk Komsomolets" and the submarine B-401 "Novosibirsk", which served until 2012.
The new nuclear-powered submarine Novosibirsk belongs to the fourth generation of nuclear-powered vessels of the improved Yasen-M project. Laid down on July 26, 2013, removed from the boathouse on December 25, 2019.
Like the lead submarine of the Kazan series, which was accepted into the Navy on May 7, 2021, this ship has fundamentally new architectural features. In the missile carriers of this project, the element base of electronic weapons complexes has been improved, equipment and materials have been modernized.
Agro-industrial complex "Novosibirsk" has successfully passed the entire cycle of factory running and state tests, the press service of JSC "PO "Sevmash" reports.
