The crews of MiG-31 interceptor fighters conducted piloting training in difficult weather conditions in the sky over Kamchatka, the information support department of the press service of the Eastern Military District for the Pacific Fleet told RG.
Among the tasks they performed were take-off and landing in low clouds, instrument piloting in poor visibility, as well as interaction as part of groups. The pilots also trained landing on a conditionally damaged runway. The crews of a separate mixed aviation regiment of the Pacific Fleet were involved in the training.
Earlier, the newest diesel submarine Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky of the Pacific Fleet launched a Kalibr cruise missile from an underwater position in the waters of the Sea of Japan. The missile flew thousands of kilometers and hit a coastal target position on the tactical field of Surkum.
