The naval aviation of the Baltic Fleet conducted planned exercises over the neutral waters of the Baltic Sea near the borders of the Kaliningrad region.
Su-27 fighters entered into training air battles and performed escort of a conditional aerial target in the sky. As reported in the information support department of the press service of the Baltic Fleet, the flights were conducted during daylight and dark hours.
The pilots worked out the elements of complex aerobatics, performing forced turns and figures "Barrel", "Slide" with an inclination of up to 60 degrees. They also practiced piloting in pairs and flying in close combat order.
The pilots worked out the take-off at the standard time on the command "Air" and searched for a conditional violator of the air border. Such sorties to escort foreign aircraft approaching the State Border of Russia are not uncommon for Su-27 pilots not during exercises, but in their daily service: they are on combat duty for border protection around the clock.
Meanwhile
The day before, the Su-27 pilots had a training session: they worked out the landing of aircraft on the conditionally damaged strip of the Chkalovsk military airfield. According to the plan of the training, when landing, the pilot received an introduction from the flight director about the conditional destruction of airfield communications equipment by the enemy and damage to the runway.
The pilots urgently decided to go to the second round to determine the nature and extent of damage to the runway. After clarifying the situation, they landed planes at a shortened distance. The fighters also worked out takeoffs with a shortened mileage.
