In the Sea of Japan, the newest diesel submarine Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky launched a Kalibr cruise missile from an underwater position. According to the information support department of the Pacific Fleet of the press service of the Eastern Military District, the missile successfully hit a coastal target.
"At the estimated time, the missile hit the coastal target position on the tactical field of Surkum. The firing range exceeded 1,000 kilometers," the press service said.
The crew of the submarine carried out a complex of trainings and exercises while performing the training task. Actions were worked out when conducting rocket firing with high-precision weapons. Before the launch, the submariners conducted a secret exit to the launch area.
In the Pacific Fleet, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky is one of the first diesel-electric submarines capable of carrying high-precision Kalibr cruise missiles.
