Moscow. December 21. INTERFAX - The new Russian diesel submarine Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky has launched a Kalibr cruise missile at a training coastal target in the waters of the Sea of Japan, the Pacific Fleet said on Tuesday.
The shooting was conducted from an underwater position on a training target at a training ground near Cape Surkum (Khabarovsk Territory), the military said.
"The missile successfully hit a coastal target at a distance of more than 1 thousand kilometers," the report says.
"The crew of the submarine, while performing the training task, conducted a set of training and exercises for the intended purpose with the development of an algorithm of actions during missile firing with high-precision weapons. Immediately before the launch, the submariners made a tactical maneuver of secretly entering the task area," the Pacific Fleet said.
"At the estimated time, the missile hit the coastal target position on the tactical field of Surkum. The firing range exceeded 1000 kilometers. The execution of missile firing was provided by ships and vessels of the Pacific Fleet, aircraft and unmanned aerial vehicles of the naval aviation of the Pacific Fleet," the fleet said.
On December 15, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported that the Marshal Shaposhnikov frigate successfully launched a missile of the new anti-submarine complex "Response" at an underwater target in the Sea of Japan. According to the military, the ship's missile system "Response" is designed to defeat submarines.
A new diesel submarine "Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky", as well as another submarine of the project 636.3 "Volokhov" came to the Pacific Fleet less than a month ago. They made the crossing from the Baltic. In total, six diesel submarines of Project 636.3 are being built for the Pacific Fleet - carriers of high-precision missile weapons. The third Magadan submarine was transferred to the Russian Navy in the fall, it will make the transition to the Pacific Fleet in 2022.
"Also next year, the fourth submarine of this project, Ufa, will join the fleet. Taking into account the pace of construction, we plan to receive all six of these submarines by 2024," Commander of the Pacific Fleet Sergey Avakyants said on November 10.
The military reported that the fifth and sixth submarines of the series - Mozhaysk and Yakutsk - were laid down at the Admiralty Shipyards for the Pacific Fleet in August 2021.
Submarines of Project 636.3 are equipped with Kalibr cruise missiles (developed by the Novator Design Bureau, Almaz-Antey Concern of East Kazakhstan Region JSC).
In 2016, the construction of the first six diesel-electric submarines of Project 636.3 for the Russian Black Sea Fleet was completed. These submarines participated in a military operation in Syria - they attacked militants from the Mediterranean Sea with cruise missiles.
