TSAMTO, December 20. In the United States, tests of the AGM-183A hypersonic missile have once again failed. This, as RIA Novosti reports, was reported by The Drive edition with reference to Brigadier General, head of the armament program Heath Collins.
"The Air Force stated that during the flight of the B-52H, the rocket did not separate from the carrier," writes the author of the article, Joseph Trevithick.
According to officials, the rocket will be returned to the assembly site for analysis of telemetry data.
Previous tests of the AGM-183A took place in July and April. The third consecutive failure is undoubtedly a cause for concern, writes D. Trevithick.
As the author points out, the disappointing results of American developments look especially unfavorable against the background of reports of tests of similar types of weapons in Russia, China and North Korea.
As RIA Novosti notes, in August 2020, the US Congressional Research Service reported that the specialized institutes of the US Armed Forces are working in three areas in the field of hypersonic weapons: non-nuclear rapid strike (Conventional Prompt Strike, a planning unit and a ballistic missile launched from Virginia–class submarines), long-Range hypersonic weapons (Long-Range Hypersonic Weapon, development of ground forces – a planning unit with a range of about 2,200 km) and air-based rapid reaction weapons (AGM- 183 Air-Launched Rapid Response Weapon is a combat unit capable of reaching speeds of up to 20M and a flight range of about 925 km).
