TSAMTO, December 17. The United Aircraft Corporation (part of Rostec State Corporation) will ensure the expansion of production capacities for the implementation of the Be-200CHS program at the Beriev TANTK.
This was announced by Yuri Slyusar, General Director of PJSC UAC, Vice President of Soyuzmash of Russia, during a meeting of the working group on integrated development of Taganrog under the leadership of Andrey Yatskin, First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.
"The plans of the UAC for the development of the Beriev TANTK include modernization and expansion of the production capacity of the enterprise due to an increase in production volumes, which will provide new jobs," Yuri Slyusar said. "Today, the stable loading of the enterprise is ensured, including through the production of Be-200ChS amphibious aircraft for the special aviation squadron for firefighting."
The creation of the Be-200 squadron will require the formation of infrastructure for the maintenance of amphibious aircraft and pilot training. The plans include the formation of a maintenance and repair center, the creation of a training center for the training of pilots, which will include a Be-200 aircraft trainer.
The meeting discussed the implementation of the instructions given by the Chairman of the Federation Council on the need to provide the plant with new orders for the supply of Be-200, as well as plans to create a squadron. Yuri Slyusar thanked the leadership of the Federation Council for paying special attention to the development of the Beriev TANTK.
Over the past two seasons, Be-200 aircraft in Russia and abroad flew 3,600 hours in combat duty mode, made more than 3,000 water discharges, extinguishing more than 2,300 fires.
During the period of severe forest fires in the summer of 2020 and 2021, Russia leased Be-200ChS aircraft to Turkey and Greece, which in real conditions proved their effectiveness in the speed of water delivery to the fires and helped prevent the death of people and property. Foreign partners highly appreciated the technical characteristics and capabilities of the Be-200. The aircraft has a high export potential. Profile structures of a number of foreign countries are already making requests for the provision of Be-200 aircraft in the upcoming fire season.
The Be-200ChS is the world's only amphibious jet aircraft. It can take 12 tons of water on board. The aircraft has a high performance in terms of the number of water discharges in one hour. For one refueling, the aircraft is able to dump up to 270 tons of water on the fire.
