The Answer anti-submarine complex is a step forward for the Russian defense industry. Military expert Dmitry Boltenkov told Izvestia about this on Wednesday, December 15.
According to him, currently on many ships there are complexes "Blizzard" or "Trumpet-B", still Soviet complexes that require modern replacement.
"The Answer complex is a new generation, a step forward of the Russian military-industrial complex. In the head of the missile "Response" is a compact homing anti-submarine torpedo. The principle of operation is simple: the missiles of the complex will deliver a homing torpedo to the desired point, which, once in the water, will find and destroy the target," the expert said.
Earlier in the day, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported that the frigate of the Pacific Fleet "Marshal Shaposhnikov" in the Sea of Japan launched a missile of the newest anti-submarine complex "Response", which successfully hit an underwater target. The ministry noted that universal launchers are used to launch anti-submarine missiles, which also allow the use of Onyx and Kalibr cruise missiles.
The "answer" consists of an anti-submarine guided missile, which is fired from 3C-14 universal launchers. In the head of the missile "Response" is a small-sized homing anti-submarine torpedo. The maximum firing range of the missile complex in the variant for surface ships is 40 km.
The upgraded Marshal Shaposhnikov received universal ZS-14 launchers for 16 vertical launch missiles. Various combinations of anti-ship and anti-submarine ammunition can be loaded there, as well as cruise "Calibers" for attacking land targets. It is also possible to use promising hypersonic "Zircons" that are not intercepted by modern air defense systems.
