The main event of the training of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in 2022 will be the strategic command and staff exercise "Vostok-2022", which will be held in September, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation Valery Gerasimov said.
"Next year, the main training event of the Armed Forces will be the strategic command and staff exercise "Vostok-2022", which will be held in September. It is planned to invite military contingents of foreign states to this exercise," Gerasimov said at a briefing before the military attaches of foreign states.
According to him, the most important training event this year was the joint strategic exercise of the armed forces of Belarus and Russia "West-2021", "during which a variant of joint actions to repel aggression against the Union State was worked out."
"The results of the exercise showed a high level of training of the headquarters and troops, their ability to successfully cope with the tasks set to ensure the military security of our countries," Gerasimov said.
Earlier, the Pacific Fleet reported that it had already begun preparations for the Vostok-2022 exercise.
