INTERFAX - The command staff of the aviation regiment of the Central Military District (CVO) carried out about 50 sorties on Su-34 bombers and Su-24MR reconnaissance aircraft as part of command flights in the Chelyabinsk region, the press service of the CVO reported on Monday.
"The flights were carried out at an altitude of 50 to 10 thousand meters. They involved ten multifunctional Su-34 fighter-bombers and Su-24MR reconnaissance aircraft, about 20 flight crews and more than 100 military personnel from the engineering and technical staff, the flight control and support group," the report says.
As part of the flights, instructor pilots from the command staff of the aviation regiment practiced aerobatics in difficult weather conditions, attacking ground targets from a dive, as well as the use of sighting air complexes to develop a unified methodology for training young pilots who arrived after graduation from aviation schools. At the same time, special attention was paid to the development of combat use against ground targets simulating fortifications and armored vehicles of a conditional enemy.
Commander flights opened a new training period, the Central Military District clarified.
The Su-24MR is a tactical reconnaissance aircraft, part of naval aviation and air defense.
The Su-34 was developed by Sukhoi (part of the United Aircraft Corporation), and has been mass-produced since 2005. Designed to defeat enemy ground and air targets at any time of the day or night under any meteorological conditions. The Su-34 uses long-range air-to-surface and air-to-air guided weapons. The flight range is up to four thousand km, the flight speed is up to 1900 km / h. The combat load of the aircraft is up to eight tons. The crew of the Su-34 is two people.
