Hypersonic missiles "Zircon" will be included in the arsenal of submarines of the Russian Navy in 2025.
- The state tests of the Zircon for nuclear submarines will be completed approximately in 2025. The first full-time rocket carrier, the Perm nuclear submarine, will participate in them. At the same time, according to the plan, the boat, along with the missiles, will enter service with the Russian Navy," a source told TASS. The agency does not have official confirmation of this information - the NGO of Mechanical Engineering that created Zircon declined to comment.
Earlier it was reported that after two successful launches of the Zircon from the Severodvinsk submarine, tests of the missile from the submarine carrier will continue in 2024, when the Perm submarine of the modified design will be completed. It is assumed that this submarine of the Yasen-M project will become the first full-time carrier of hypersonic weapons.
And the state tests of the Zircon from the surface carrier will continue. The missile is being tested by the frigate of the Northern Fleet "Admiral Gorshkov", a salvo launch is planned by the end of the year. On November 30, Vladimir Putin announced that the tests were going well and the Zircon would be put into service in early 2022. By the way, mass production of missiles has already begun.
