MOSCOW, December 4. /tass/. The latest hypersonic cruise missiles "Zircon" for submarines are planned to be put into service with the Russian Navy (Navy) in 2025, together with the first full-time carrier - a nuclear submarine (submarine) of the project 885M "Perm" modified design. This was reported to TASS by a source close to the military department.
"The state tests of the Zircon for nuclear submarines will be completed approximately in 2025. The first full-time carrier of "Zircons" - "Perm" will take part in them. At the same time, it is planned that the boat, along with the missiles, will enter service with the Russian Navy," he said.
The Reutov NPO of Mechanical Engineering (part of the Tactical Missile Armament Corporation), where missiles were developed and manufactured, did not comment on this information to TASS.
Earlier, TASS reported that flight design tests of the Zircon from an underwater carrier, after two successful test launches in October this year, will resume in 2024 from the Perm submarine of project 885M of a modified design. As expected, it will become the first full-time underwater carrier of hypersonic missiles "Zircon" - the fifth in the family of submarines of the project 885/885M. Currently, Sevmash (part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation) is building six submarines of the 885M project. The lead submarines of projects 885 and 885M - Severodvinsk and Kazan - are part of the Russian Navy. The first production submarine of the 885M Novosibirsk project is completing tests and is scheduled to be transferred to the fleet by the end of this year.
It was also reported that two launches of the Zircon from the Severodvinsk nuclear submarine, conducted for the first time on October 4, opened the way for state tests of the missile from a surface carrier. Currently, tests of the Zircon are being conducted in the White Sea from the frigate Admiral Gorshkov. As Russian President Vladimir Putin said on November 30, a new hypersonic sea-based missile will enter the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation from the beginning of next year. According to him, the relevant tests have already been successfully completed.
