For violating the rules of preparation for flights on the Black Sea Fleet, two military technicians will be tried before. The criminal case was sent to the Crimean Garrison Military Court for consideration on the merits.
As the press service of the Main Military Prosecutor's Office told the correspondent of "RG", the 65th Military Garrison Prosecutor's Office of the Black Sea Fleet has approved an indictment in a criminal case against two military technicians of one of the units of the Black Sea Fleet naval aviation. They are charged under Article 351 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation - in violation of the rules of preparation for flights.
The investigation found that the technician of the repair group and his supervisor during the scheduled maintenance of the ejection system of the aircraft, having been negligent, did not fully put it in a state of readiness and warning against accidental operation. As a result, an emergency situation occurred during the first use of the aircraft after maintenance. Before takeoff, the crew transferred the ejection systems from the ground to the flight position, after which there was an unauthorized operation of the ejection seats and their ejection together with the pilots to a height of about 50 meters above the ground.
The pilots escaped damage and landed safely thanks to timely air filling and the opening of the parachute domes. As a result of a mistake made by technicians, significant damage was caused to the equipment. Its restoration repair, according to experts, will amount to more than 22 million rubles.
As previously reported by the press service of the Southern Military District, on May 21, during the preparation for the scheduled flight of the Su-30SM aircraft, an emergency operation of the ejection system occurred at the Saki airfield. As a result of the ejection, no one was injured.
