MOSCOW, Dec 3 - RIA Novosti. The US Air Force needs to possess a new generation of high-precision ammunition to deter Russia and China. This is stated on the FlightGlobal portal with reference to the Mitchell Institute.
According to the ministry, systems such as Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM), designed to convert free-falling bombs into all-weather adjustable ammunition, have long proved their effectiveness, but they have ceased to withstand high competition with modern models.
In addition, the use of aircraft not equipped with stealth technologies in the war with Russia and China can be dangerous, since after the depletion of stocks of AGM-158 JASSM missiles, these aircraft actually become useless.
Mitchell Institute analyst and retired US Air Force Colonel Mark Ganzinger believes that in the current conditions, it is necessary to rely on cruise missiles with a range of 92 to 463 kilometers, which will allow strike aircraft not to enter the target area.
The key role, according to the expert, should be given to aircraft of the type of promising strategic bombers of the new generation B-21, which is adapted for the pursuit of well-protected and highly mobile targets.
