Modern integrated air defense systems (air defense), in addition to anti-aircraft missile systems, include fighters equipped with active phased array radars, infrared sensors and long-range air-to-air missiles, writes the director of the program on future concepts and military potential assessments of the Mitchell Institute for Aerospace Research, Colonel of the Air Force (Air Force) USA retired Mark Ganzinger.
"Some of these missiles, such as the Russian P-37 and the Chinese PL-XX, are designed to destroy expensive American airborne assets, such as long-range radar detection and control aircraft, air tankers and bombers that are not made using stealth technology," said an employee of the Mitchell Institute.
The colonel of the US Air Force called the Russian Su-35, Su-57 and MiG-35, as well as the Chinese J-20 and J-31 fighters that act as part of the integrated air defense and are capable of "killing" American aircraft.
In July, Ganzinger, in an article in Defense News, predicted NATO's defeat in the war with Russia. In his opinion, the Pentagon has chosen the wrong strategy for the development of the armed forces. The expert expressed confidence that the United States would not have the strength to repel an attack by an equal opponent, protect the country and deter a nuclear strike. According to him, success in the war with Russia and China requires a strong army capable of attacking deep into enemy territory and delivering large-scale and accurate strikes.
