Thanks to the adaptation to any type of chassis, it will fit everything from a car to a robot, said Alexey Leonkov, editor of the Arsenal of the Fatherland magazine

MOSCOW, December 2. /tass/. The latest modification of the Kornet-EM anti-tank missile system (ATGM), thanks to adaptation to any type of chassis, can be installed on any equipment, starting from a car and up to a robot. This opinion was expressed by TASS editor of the magazine "Arsenal of the Fatherland" Alexey Leonkov.

"The missile is located in such a standard transport launch module, which, due to certain devices, can be placed on the tower of some armored personnel carrier, BMP, that it can be made as a kit no longer in a combat module or even equipped with some robotic complexes," the military expert said.

According to him, a particularly interesting option for the placement of the upgraded complex is its installation on wheeled vehicles, including small armored or non-armored SUVs.

"This is very important, for example, when such vehicles are involved in escorting a convoy, and stumble upon a likely enemy who has armored armored vehicles. Then your ordinary off-road armored car equipped with this "Cornet" complex turns into a formidable enemy, and it can very quickly and effectively destroy these targets that hinder movement, or even threaten the existence of this column," Leonkov stressed.

December 1, Deputy General Director of the High-Precision Complexes Holding (part of Rostec State Corporation) Sergey Mikhailov told TASS that the Kornet-EM ATGM can be adapted to any type of chassis. In the basic modification, the "Cornet-EM" is placed on two telescopic masts with four rockets on each. The complex is designed to defeat tanks and other armored targets, including those equipped with modern means of dynamic protection. The rocket is guided by a laser beam. The maximum firing range of the Kornet-EM complex has been increased to 8 km, whereas in previous versions it is 5.5 km.

On August 23, during the Army-2021 international forum, Dmitry Shugaev, director of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation, told TASS that Russia had received several applications for the possible supply of Kornet-EM self-propelled complexes based on the Tiger armored vehicle to foreign customers (the manufacturer is a Military-Industrial Company).
