INTERFAX - The army corps stationed in the Kaliningrad region is conducting training of motorized rifle and tank regiments with the withdrawal of more than 1 thousand servicemen to the training grounds, the press service of the Baltic Fleet of the Russian Federation reported on Wednesday.
"In order to conduct planned combat training exercises, more than one thousand servicemen as part of motorized rifle and tank regiments of the army corps of the Baltic Fleet marched to the training grounds located in the Kaliningrad region," the report says.
On December 1, the winter training period began in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
The press service of the Baltic Fleet reported that about a third of the units of the army corps conduct classes in the field. "The combat coordination of crews, calculations, departments at the training grounds began on the first day of the new training period," the report says.
According to the military, for the rest of the units, winter training sessions will begin at permanent deployment points.
In 2016, it was officially reported that the 11th Army Corps was formed as part of the Baltic Fleet in the Kaliningrad Region.
The recent reinforcement of the army corps by a new motorized rifle division was officially reported. The Russian military stated that the division was being formed in response to the growth of NATO activity near the Russian borders.
