Egyptian designers presented the Sinai 200 armored vehicle at the Egypt Defense Expo 2021 in Cairo. The new vehicle is based on the Soviet infantry fighting vehicle BMP-1. This is reported by Rossiyskaya Gazeta.
The chassis of the Egyptian car received elements of the BMP-1. Sinai-200 is shorter, so there are five support rollers on each side in the chassis. The Egyptian car is driven by a 400 horsepower engine. This allows you to reach speeds of up to 65 kilometers per hour.
The Sinai-200 crew consists of two people. In the stern of the BMP there is an amphibious compartment, which has been equipped with surveillance devices and loopholes for firing small arms. For landing and disembarkation, the car received hatches in the roof and rear.
The main armament of the vehicle was a remote-controlled combat module with a 12.7 mm machine gun. The publication notes that the developers paid attention to the protection of the car from anti-tank mines and improvised explosive devices.
Earlier, military expert Alexey Khlopotov called the features of the new Russian BMP B-19. He noted that the ammunition of the car was taken out of the combat compartment. The BMP received the Epoch combat module with a 57-millimeter automatic rifle and missiles.
In September, an upgraded copy of the BMP-1 was presented at the MSPO-2021 exhibition in Poland. The combat vehicle differs from the standard version with an enlarged body and increased security.
