A new hypersonic weapon with a maximum power of Mach 9 will appear in Russia in the near future. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin during the 13th VTB Investment Forum "Russia is calling!"
"We have now tested, and successfully, and since the beginning of the year we will already have in service new hypersonic sea-based missiles, Mach 9. The flight time will be 5 minutes for those who give orders, too," he said.
It is expected that serial deliveries of new missiles to the fleet will begin in 2022.
According to the Russian leader, the development of hypersonic weapons is a response to NATO actions that pose threats to Russia.

Admiral Gorshkov carried out the previous launch of the Zircon rocket on November 18 at a sea target from the White Sea. The target was hit by a direct hit.
