The Russian Aerospace Forces will receive new aircraft with hypersonic weapons next year, Lieutenant General Andrey Yudin said. On the air of Sputnik radio, military expert Alexey Leonkov commented on the information.
Next year, new aircraft with hypersonic weapons will be put on combat duty in the Russian Aerospace Forces, said Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Aerospace Forces, Lieutenant General Andrey Yudin.
According to him, a total of 200 units of basic weapons, military and special equipment are planned to be purchased next year as part of the state defense order.
"Next year in the aviation military units of the Aerospace Forces is declared the year of flight training, and for air defense, missile defense and space forces – the year of combat duty. We also have to put on combat duty promising samples of VVTS (weapons, military and special equipment, - Ed.), including with hypersonic weapons," he said . Yudin to the newspaper "Krasnaya Zvezda".
Earlier it was reported that by the end of 2024, it is planned to deliver 22 fifth-generation Su-57 fighters to the VKS.
On the air of Sputnik radio, military expert Alexey Leonkov noted that promising samples of aviation equipment, including those with hypersonic weapons, will help our troops deter a likely enemy at distant borders.
"At first it was the Southern Military District, where 10 aircraft complexes with hypersonic weapons were put on combat duty for the first time. It is clear that this was not limited to this: it was necessary to put the same kind of complexes on all borders. And it is clear that these complexes should not have been limited only to MiG-31K aircraft – there are other carriers of hypersonic weapons. These are Tu-22M3M aircraft, which can also carry hypersonic Kinzhal air complexes, they work not only on sea objects, but can also hit ground targets with precision. Thus, Russia is strengthening its borders. Our army and the defense industry are fulfilling the president's instructions: to meet the enemy and beat him with precision at distant borders," Alexey Leonkov said.
He stressed that today Russia is the only country with hypersonic complexes on alert or in a high degree of readiness.
"The hypersonic complexes that Russia is developing makes it the only power in the world that has put on stream the manufacture of such complexes and equipping its troops with them. We are the only power in the world in which hypersonic complexes in such a variety are on combat duty. We are talking not only about the Kinzhal hypersonic complexes, but also about the Avangard ballistic complexes, the Zircon anti-ship hypersonic complex is on the way, and the re-equipment of all old-style ballistic missiles with new RS-28 Sarmat missiles is approaching. Thus, we can say that Russia has an undisputed leadership not only in hypersonic technologies, but also in the fact that they are already on combat duty or are on combat duty," the military expert noted.
