New aircraft with hypersonic weapons will be delivered to the troops of the Aerospace Forces in 2022. This was announced on Monday, November 29, by the Commander-in-chief of the Russian Aerospace Forces, Lieutenant General Andrey Yudin.
According to him, the "level of modernity" of military and special equipment in the VKS will be 89%.
"We will also have to put on combat duty promising samples of VVST (weapons, military and special equipment. - Ed.), including with hypersonic weapons," the Red Star newspaper quotes the Lieutenant General.
He clarified that within the framework of the state defense order in 2022, it is planned to purchase more than 200 units of basic weapons, military and special equipment, including SU-57, SU-35S fighters, Mi-28NM combat helicopters, Ka-52 and DA-42T training aircraft. The VKS troops will receive S-350 and S-400 anti-aircraft systems, as well as Pantsir-S air defense systems, Angara launch vehicles and military spacecraft.
On November 25, a medium-class Soyuz-2.1B carrier rocket with a military satellite was launched from the Plesetsk cosmodrome in the Arkhangelsk Region. The Soyuz-2 launch by the Space Forces was carried out for the 51st time since 2004, when summer tests of the launch vehicle began at the Plesetsk cosmodrome.
On October 8, the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Aerospace Forces, Sergei Surovikin, reported that in 2022, two launches of the Angara-A5 heavy launch vehicle and two launches of its light version are planned from the Plesetsk cosmodrome in the Arkhangelsk Region.
