TSAMTO, November 24. The main universal nuclear icebreaker of the project 22220 "Arctic" built by the Baltic Plant (part of the USC) entered the waters of the Gulf of Finland to undergo acceptance tests.
During the implementation of the test program, the factory delivery team, together with the crew of the icebreaker, will check the operability of the starboard propeller motor, which was replaced by specialists from the Baltic Plant.
It is expected that after the completion of the tests, the Arctic nuclear-powered vessel will begin work on the Northern Sea Route.
The universal nuclear icebreaker Arktika is the lead vessel of Project 22220. The nuclear-powered vessels of this project are the largest and most powerful icebreaking vessels in the world. Their main task is to ensure year-round navigation in the Arctic. In the coming years, the icebreakers of project 22220 should become the basis of the civil icebreaking fleet of Russia.
