The event was attended by the commander of the Army of the Air Force and Air Defense, Honored Military Pilot of the Russian Federation, Major General Oleg Makovetsky, officers of the Guards Red Banner Combined Arms Army, military personnel of the Zhukovsky and Gagarin Air Force Academy, officers of the association, military personnel of the aviation regiment and their families.
"I want to congratulate you on your return to your native land! Professionalism, dedication to military duty, dignity and honor, competent and careful operation of modern aircraft models - this is your business card," Makovetsky said.
The work was carried out on an area of more than 220 thousand square meters. m. The new runway passed technical expertise, it was awarded the highest class, which will make it possible to use it for landing any types of aircraft of operational tactical and military transport aviation.

In addition, group parking spaces in 2022 will be equipped with covered metal frame canopies, which will allow aircraft to be serviced in all weather conditions.
In April, it became known that the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation is modernizing the easternmost military airfield of the country Yelizovo, which is located near Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. According to the approved plan, special concrete shelters for aircraft will be erected there, communication, navigation and landing systems will be updated.
