Vladivostok. November 23. INTERFAX - FAR EAST - The planned shift of the aviation forces on duty, carrying combat duty for air defense, took place in Chukotka, the press service of the Pacific Fleet (TOPF) reported on Tuesday.
"Crews of MiG-31BM high-altitude fighters and technical personnel arrived at the Coal Mines airfield, who began solving tasks to protect the air borders of the Russian Federation in the designated area," the report says.
It is noted that the use of fighter aircraft from the airfield in Chukotka makes it possible to expand their range of action.
Pilots from the mixed aviation regiment of Troops and forces in the north-east have been on combat duty in the Arctic for more than a year, and have been escorted by foreign military aircraft approaching the Russian border more than 10 times, the report says.
