In Russia, the production of modifications of the heaviest helicopter will begin. A permit for serial production of the Mi-26T2B will be issued by the end of 2021. Andrey Boginsky, General Director of the Russian Helicopters holding of Rostec State Corporation, said this in an interview with TASS .
"We are now in the final stage of obtaining the letter "O1" according to the basic version of the helicopter, there are not many flights left to complete the flight tests of the Mi-26T2B. We expect that by the end of the year we will make these flights and receive the letter "O1". We have already delivered the first Mi-26T2B helicopters to the Russian troops," Boginsky said, answering a question about the start of serial production of the helicopter.
The head of Russian Helicopters stressed that the Mi-26T2B is an upgrade, not a new machine. The helicopter is designed to solve problems within the framework of Arctic exploration. The new modification received special equipment.
Earlier, Defense IQ analysts compiled a rating of the most common helicopters. The Mi-8 and Mi-17 family cars have become the second most popular in the world. Military transport helicopters occupy 14 percent of the global helicopter fleet.
In October, Rostec announced preparations for testing the Mi-171A2 helicopter in mountainous terrain. The tests are scheduled for 2022.
