According to unofficial Vietnamese sources, on November 13, 2021, the first six Yak-130 combat training aircraft, out of 12 ordered for the air defense and Air Force of the Vietnamese People's Army, were delivered from Russia to the Vietnamese airfield of Phucat (Quinen, Binh Dinh Province). The Yak-130 aircraft were built by the Irkutsk Aviation Plant (IAZ) PJSC Irkut Corporation (part of PJSC United Aircraft Corporation of Rostec State Corporation) and were delivered to Vietnam aboard AN-124-100 transport aircraft. It is claimed that the remaining six Yak-130 for Vietnam will be delivered in December.

Judging by the photos, the first of the Yak-130 aircraft delivered to Vietnam has the tail number "2101". It is known that the aircraft built for Vietnam at IAZ had serial numbers from 130.12.05-101 to 130.12.05-112.
Recall that in 2019, Vietnam signed a contract for the purchase of 12 Yak-130 combat training aircraft worth over $ 350 million. Vietnam became the fifth foreign recipient of Yak-130 aircraft (not counting Belarus) - after Algeria (which received 16 aircraft), Bangladesh (16), Myanmar (14) and Laos (four).
According to unofficial Vietnamese publications, Yak-130 entered service squadron recoverable part of the air defense and air force VNA 940-th useinova regiment, which formed the basis of the personnel based at Phu cat 925 th fighter aviation regiment (equipped with su-27SK/UBK) 372-th division of the air force and based at the airfield Dong Cat 910-th training aviation regiment Officer school air force Academy, BHA (include training aircraft L-39C). Previously, the 940th Fighter Training Regiment existed as part of the Officer School of the VNA Air Force Academy from 1979 to 2014 (from 1987 to 2005 it was called the 920th Regiment), based at Fukat and being a retraining regiment for MiG-21 fighters, but in 2010 it was transferred to the 372nd Air Force Division and reorganized into a fighter aviation regiment, receiving Su-27SK/UBK fighters, and in 2014 renamed the 925th Fighter Regiment. It can be assumed that after the revival of the 940th regiment, it will now again perform the tasks of advanced flight training and retraining for fighters.
It is also reported that the 910th training Aviation Regiment in 2023-2024 should receive 12 new L-39NG combat training aircraft ordered in the Czech Republic.
