More important than waging war, the task of the Russian Navy (Navy) is to prevent it, the optimal solution of which is inconspicuous and small-sized surface and especially submarine fleet does not correspond, says the weekly "Zvezda".
The publication says that "for the successful solution of this task, the navy should, on the contrary, be as visible as possible," for which Russia will build "large ships", which include, for example, aircraft carriers.
"Whether we like it or not, the XXI century is the information age. Where an impressive picture rules the ball and owns the minds of billions of people. And we have no right not to understand this, or at least to underestimate this most important psychological circumstance. Especially if we want to prevent a war," the newspaper writes.
It is noted that the new large ships "will not allow the West to continue to single-handedly dominate the world TV screen and in the minds of billions of people."
In July 2019, Zvezda wrote that instead of copying American aircraft carrier projects, Russian designers should think about developing "fundamentally new solutions that cannot be found within the current dogmatic scheme." "For example, about an underwater aircraft carrier with aircraft that would be on board a huge launch complex hidden in the depths of the ocean and could launch directly from there without lifting it to the surface. And then dive into the ocean again and moor to the side of the underwater airfield," the publication of the weekly said.
